My daughter cant seem to handle allowance and is always asking me for money. Is there a actual job she can do at age 12? If not, what other thing could she do to make money?

  1. She can babysit, housesit, or mow and rake lawns

  2. What about chores? Making her bed, doing the dishes, putting the bin out.

  3. If your daughter cant handle an allowance, how is she gonna handle a paycheck? There's really not much a 12 year old can do besides baby sit. And to be honest, I wouldnt want a 12 year old watching my kids. Maybe she could do stuff to help out your neighbors. Do you have older neighbors? Maybe she could carry in their groceries, or something. Or do a pet walking thing. I know that's what my sister-in-law has her kids doing. And they make pretty decent money...for being 13.

My 12 year old seemed to blow through her allowance as quickly as she got it. Then she too would ask us for money. Sometimes we'd give it to her, sometimes not. I finally told her that if there was something she wanted, she needed to save her allowance until she has enough money to buy it herself because we were not going to run to the store everytime she "needs" something. Once she figured out that I was serious, she started saving her money. I told her this back in January and now she has saved up over $600 and she wants her stepmother to put it in the bank for her. So my plan worked out perfectly. I no longer have to run to Toys R Us all the time and my daughter has learned to value her money.
