Despite the fact that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international, Joey Barton will serve a 12-game ban this season regardless of the fact whether he remains in England or leaves for a new league, Olympique de Marseille are keen on attaining the services of a player who has attracted
controversy throughout his career.
Under contract at English Premier League outfit Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314, the Englishman has not a part of manager Mark Hughes’ plans for this season. The Welshman has not given Barton a jersey number and has not included him in his 25-man squad.
Although Barton will miss 10 matches in the Ligue 1 if he signs for Marseille, Les Phoceens coach, Elie Baup is keen on having the player at his disposal. However, the details of the transfer are still up in the air.
QPR are keen on enlisting the services of Stephane Mbia from QPR. The Cameroon international has made no secret of his desire to play in England. Barton on the other hand, is keen on joining Marseille and has asked the versatile midfielder to stay at the
Velodrome.
Last night, Marseille defeat reigning French champions, Montpellier Herault at the Mosson. Following the match, Barton expressed his pleasure to see his ‘beloved’ side win.
Via his twitter account, the controversial midfielder expressed his love for the club and asked Stephane Mbia to stay at Marseille.
The Englishman tweets included his criticism of QPR management, revelation of his offer to cancel his contract and praise for Mbia written in French.
“J'espère que vous resterez frère (I hope you stay brother) Vous êtes un grand joueur, j'aimerais jouer avec vous (You are a great player, I would love to play with you),” tweeted Barton.
Barton also had a few things to say about the Queens Park Rangers management. The 29-year-old revealed that upon receiving a 12-game suspension, he offered QPR to cancel his contract. However, the way QPR dealt with him was not good, something which infuriates
Barton.
"Then, I have my shirt number taken without any notice. Then, I read I wouldn't of been signed had the current regime been in place. I am a man. I can only take so much. I want to leave."
