Jury duty anyone?

I was on "jury duty" for a week and was picked to be on a jury. I found it very interesting and simple. Did you ever go on jury duty and if so was there something you realised now that you didnt then?

  1. Never have been chosen.

  2. I've been called three times but have never been chosen to serve.  Heck, I've never even made it to the voir dere.  It's starting to give me an inferiority complex; next time I think I'll ditch the suit and go with a tee shirt that says "Pick me!".

  3. Yes - I realized that any one of us can be rightly or wrongly accused of a crime.  It makes me nervous to think how many people want to get out of jury duty.  If you can be accused of a crime and taken to jail against your will, then I believe you should be compelled to serve on a jury.

How else can we be judged by a jury of our peers if our peers don't want to be there?  I realized what an honor it was to serve.

The good news for us in Missouri is that jurors are no longer selected from the voter registration lists - they come from the DMV - that's right, if you are over 18 and you have a driver's license, you can be asked to serve on a jury.  I believe this is much fairer and for those people who never voted because they were afraid of being called for jury duty - they no longer have an excuse not to vote!

  4. I've never been on a jury, but I've helped a lawyer choose a jury.  I learned that it's very difficult to predict how a juror will decide, and there's really no point in trying.

  5. Yes I did and I went into the Jury box and then I was excused but I was still on call for duty in Kalispell Mt., and Yuma Az. I was called for Jury duty but I was not picked though

  6. I was selected for the grand jury.

We met once a week for 3 months.

The deputy district attorneys would present their cases and we would determine if these should go to trail.

The cases presented involved drugs, domestic violence and child [sexual] abuse.

I found out here are some really sick people out there.

The experience wasn't all that bad.

And most important  we didn't have to sit in a courtroom all day.
