Just a pregnancy question..?

Has anyone ever been pregnant and never went to a doctor until they were in labor? And if so what happened?

This would not be smart at all seeing as there are things that you need to be tested for before the baby can even be born like your RH and for STD's.

I know someone who only seen a doctor when they first found out they were pregnant and then didn't go back until they made the trip in labor to the hospital and they did this 2 times, everything still came out right, the hospital had to assign her a random doctor but baby and everything came out great!!! It's best to go though because your doctor can detect any complications or even disorders or deformities the baby may have and just make sure you're in good health in general. Better safe than sorry!!!!

I have never had that happen, but I would advise against it.  That leaves so many unknowns and what ifs.  They would have to ask a lot of questions, your health history, do an ultrasound, lab work, etc.  To get caught up with you and your body ad possible health problems that you may not even know yo have (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.)  Definitely don't want to wait to to go to a doctor once you have found out that you are pregnant.

You have to get a lot of bloodwork done and get tested for many things.  Your baby probably might not be as healthy.  Also, shame on whoever is pregnant and does not go to the doctor until they are in labor.  Its called responsibility!

I would very much advise this not to be done and there are many reasons why, take me for example I found out that I have a rare blood type and only found out this when I was pregnant through the blood tests that need to be done, I then had to have injections all the way through my pregnancy because of my blood type. Things can be prevented through going to your doctor.

Of course that has happened, and it was common hundreds of years ago. But, the number of babies born with defects or stillborn were a LOT higher than they are now.

You can get assistance with your pregnancy if you go to the right place. Check your phonebook in the yellow pages for numbers about who can help you with pregnancy. (most states will actually help you pay for your pregnancy and your baby's first year of life!)
