  1. If you aren't interested in lessons, then I suggest getting a beginners guitar book from any music store in your area. They start very simple...teaching you a little at a time. Alot of people try to rush through it, passing the vital information. Take your time. Pay attention to every page and detail. I took a lesson through my highschool. And my boyfriend has played for over 20 years. The key is to devote time to practice on a daily basis. I'm not kidding, no matter how good you get, you will lose it if you don't practice on a regular basis. Get a tuner from the music store also. That way you can keep your guitar tuned until you teach yourself to do it on your own. There will be a section in  your book about it. Differant songs require you to be tuned differantly. But you'll get that later on. Your fingers will become callosed if you are practicing enough. Once you finish this book, you can get higher levels of books. Guitar World has about 5 songs (including tabs) in each magazine. Or you can look them up online for free. Once you've played for awhile and get good, you will not even need tabs. You will be able to hear what is being played in songs, and recognize it. Good luck.

  2. lol.. someone been playing guitar hero a little too much?

Get a book.. or even better take lessons. You could try teaching yourself or playing "by ear" but that can get frustrating really quick.

  3. Go to YouTube...you should be able to find some instructional videos there.

  4. go ahead and get guitar lessons it would help alot to get more familiar with it :)

  5. Go see if they offer lessons at the place you bought it. I'm really not sure what your asking though

  6. You can start playing your favorite songs quickly with tabs and there are many websites that will have many great songs. The important thing is to practice often and also while you're playing tabs, learn to read music. It's not that hard and there are many great videos and online sites that will show you how. You can also watch a lot of great videos of others on Youtube playing tabs of popular bands. Enjoy!

  7. http://www.guitaretab.com/

Search a song that you like (pick an easy song).

  8. get books, lessons, friends who all are about guitar

  9. tons of sites to help you learn how to play guitar and lots of instructional stuff on you tube, just check for instructional guitar videos, I have played for over 30 years amateur and pro and a suggestion, that nothing works better in the start than hands on 1 on 1 instruction to get you off to a good start. Also0 learn how to read music and basic theory at least. it will help you understand and in a more advanced stage will help you attain greater heights of professionalism. Everyone wants the quick easy method in today's world but you should use a combination of old hard ways and new quicker to learn methods so you will be a more well rounded musician capable of playing a greater variety of music. If you are truly serious and addicted that's the way to go. otherwise pick a quick easy method and do your best . just don't give up and work on developing your coordination, your ear, and try anything that sounds good and follow thru. learn simple chords and songs first, then progress. Good luck.

PS Also check out your local music store or online at musicians friend, sam ash, guitar center, or zzounds websites. tons of instructional stuff

  10. i bought a guitar and i have absolutely NO idea how to play,  but i NEED to play haha

i looked up lessons on youtube and i learned a few chords!

  11. I've played for over 20 years. There are a lot of great books out there that teach all sorts of things about playing guitar. Find one with lots of pictures and that is designed so that YOU can follow it. Everyone learns differently. Some books even come with a learning DVD. I don't know if there is a GuitarCenter near you but we have a few here in Michigan and they always have lessons for beginners to experts (I teach every once in a while). Best advice is be patient and play a little everyday.
