I just had my tongue pierced a few hours ago and it wasn't as painful as i though it would be-it just feels really weird. He put a rally large bar in-maybe that's why it feels so weird. He said its in case my tongue swells which it probably will. When can i remove the big one and put in the small one? Any tips on making it heal quickly?

  1. Dip your tongue into a bowl of lemon juice or vinegar. That should remind you why you shouldnt stick a piece of metal through your body.

  2. Tongue piercing usually take between 10-14 days to fully heal.  After 3-5 days the swelling will start to reduce, and between 7-10 days after the piercing you can have a shorter barbell inserted.  Usually the shorter barbell can be inserted after 8-10 days, although some people's tongue may heal quicker. The amount of swelling depends on how long your tongue is (longer tongues swell more), where the piercing is placed (the further back from the tip, the more swelling) and how well you follow the aftercare instructions.

As for getting the best healing time.. all I can say is from my bad experience don't smoke, don't drink and don't eat crunchy tacos. :)

I also wanted to add that using TOO MUCH mouthwash can cause infection.  Infections usually don't happen in your mouth because of a bacteria that we produce but its good to use mouthwash to wash out the foreign substances.  But DON'T over use it.  Use it as you were instructed in the after care instructions. :)

  3. i wanted my tongue pierced but im too scared. i think if u eat ice cubes it stops any swelling for the first 24 hours. x

  4. Change it to a smaller 10mm bar in about a week.

Use a quality mouthwash to keep your mouth clean.

  5. why on earth do you want your tongue pierced ? sorry i don't understand the attraction

  6. i would wait at least a week or more to change it.. after you eat drink wen  u wake up and b4 bed rinse with mouthwash.. try to avoid anything with yeast cause it will cause swelling..
