Question:

Just learning to jump?

I'm 13 and have only been riding for about 10 months. I've just begun jumping and am wondering for tips for better performance over jumps. I jumped for the first time in my past lesson and my instructer said that I will continue jumping in the rest of my future lessons. I've only done cross- rails and low boards ( not sure exactly how high ).

Any tips??

  1. allow your trainer to push you and also try jumping one or 2 jumps a lesson w/ out reins.

  2. Just be confident in jumping to overcome fears.

  3. just keep ur rains tight, heals down, and lean froward and u should be fine. i always find it easier to hold onto their main too. but mostly heals down so u don't fall off!

  4. squeeze your legs closer to the horse to ensure better stability and balance

  5. Don't run before you can walk...and listen to you instructor!!!

    Good luck!

  6. KIWIVAMP....PLEASE...IS YOUR POST FOR "REEL" (S/BE real)..you must have failed English and have never read (red) a book on horses and tack....PERHAPS YOU SHOULD LOOK UP THE WORD.... SYNONYM!!  All these abbreviations are ruining your English and proper grammar....

just keep ur rains(REINS) tight, heals(HEELS) down, and lean froward and u should be fine. i always find it easier to hold onto their main (MANE) too. but mostly heals (HEELS) down so u don't fall off!

  7. If you have a good instructor they can give you more tips than we ever can.

    Tips:

    Keep your heels down

    Keep your eyes up.

    Keep your back flat

Try not to anticipate the fences

No one is ever to good to grab mane

Don't be anxious, your on a lesson horse. He knows his job

Have fun with it, bad fences will happen

    Hope you love it!!
