Question:

Karting - Visor Information please?

Currently, i have a clear visor. It offers best vision but i think an iridium, or some sort of tint/mirrorerd visor would be much better.

Can anynody with any type of helmet visor tell me what a silver mirror visor looks like from the inside, light silver? clear? or whatever.

And is it easy to see through?

Also what would gold/blue iridium/dark smoke or whatever look like.

I want a stylish visor but one with decent vision, so im just checking before i buy an expensive one. Thanks. Any info appreciated.

  1. I've used a few in the past, now I use the clear visor only.

I may not look too good, I wear glasses, but it's really the best view possible and I'm interested in performance, not looks.

My eyes are sensitive to the sun and I don't get out without sunglasses or my eyes get tired pretty quickly, but I have no problems whatsoever in the kart with the clear visor even in the summer.

So I don't bother with anything else anymore.

  2. I would go with either the clear visor or the smoked visors. DO NOT get an iridium.  I've had a couple and apart from being rediculously expensive, they fade and get worn out after a short while and it is fairly hard to see the track when racing. I race TKM and i have found that the clear visor may not look the best but it gives you a great view of the track on dull days and the smoked visors are equally as good on sunny days. make sure that its light smoked though.

  3. iridium as well as smoke and gold and silver all look like a smoke tint from the inside but the gradients are different.smoke visors are great for daytime racing and will help you see the track better but as for the outside look it doesnt really matter as long as it is clean.mirror finishes look good and so does iridium but most people just use them to add to the look of the helmet as a whole.just make sure that when you do use mirrored visors use a soft cloth and visor wash and wax to keep from wearing the finish off.
