I just got the trial of kaspersky and I ran a scan. It found a bunch of harmful things, but it won't let me do anything to them. The "disinfect" option is disabled and when I click Quarantine, all it does is try to open up a file. What should I do?

  1. Hello,

Those are all vulnerabilities, vulnerabilities are outdated software that could pose a security problem to your computer, what it is is they can be used for exploits to harm your computer, these programs are legitimate and should not be deleted or quarantined,

To fix it, see what the name of the program is and either run it's updater or go to the company's website and see if there is a new version available, if there is download it. If after that it still detects them then just ignore it.

A note: Kaspersky trials are FULLY FUNCTIONAL, they are in no way weakened except the 30 day limit.

If need more help, try the Kaspersky Forums, you don't have to own Kaspersky to get an account:

For problems/questions about Kaspersky the program itself:

    Kaspersky Lab Forum:

    http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?sho...

    For removing viruses:

  2. Some of these trial products out there are just tasters for the real thing, this is telling you ' hey! i have found all these but if you want me to do something about it ...buy me ', trials have alot of features cut off, otherwise no one would buy!!

  3. Sidney is right, but the ability to "disinfect" only applies to files that can be "cleaned"  Trojans and spyware ARE the entire file, and can't be "cleaned" or "disinfected" they can only be cleaned or deleted.

I don't know if kaspersky trial is limited or not, however you can download ESET NOD32 30 day free trial that is FULLY functional from http://www.eset.com

Make sure to uninstall Kaspersky first, you don't want 2 AV programs running at the same time.
