Kazakstan vs. kazakhstan?

which is it? i remember reading something about it, so i thought it was without the "h" but which is it? which is politically correct? and which is what they want it to be called?

  1. I depends on how you want to say it. Do you want to say it like "Kazakstan," or like "Kazakhstan"? The second one is more correct, yet most Americans I know say it the first way.

    What's the difference? The "k" verses the "kh" sound. The "kh" sound is a lot like the "ch" in the Scottish word "loch," whereas the "k" is just that - a hard "k" sound.

    (I figured this out from the Russian spelling of Kazakhstan, which is Казахстан - the x is the way they spell that "ch/kh" sound.)

  4. In Kazakh it's transliterated as Kazakhstan.

    In the UK we say Kazakhstan (Correct version)

    In America it's usually misused as Kazakstan as in the English language you do not pronounce the H.

    KH = CH as in loch.
