  1. I think they become immune to when something like that happens. People of horse racing have just come to expect that a few horses will lose their life so we could watch some great entertainment. However most likely the people celebrating were not aware of the situation with eight belles. Generally though there is definitely a strong correlation between horse racing and greater abuse to horses especially because so many horses expect nothing but winning at the highest level.

  2. Oh my god. That is a disgrace. I just watched the video. I didnt do what other people did and just watch the beginning. I watched the part where the owners of Eight Belles were jumping up and down having a ball. What a-s-s-h-o-l-e-s. I agree with you. Some how and some way, there needs to be a stop put to the kentucky derby. I wish I could raise money to stop horse racing. Its truly terrible how people put thousands of horses into racing a year and half of them come out dead. PEOPLE! WAKE UP! This isnt a joke anymore. The Kentucky Derby used to be interesting but now its becoming inhumane and wrong. I'm sorry to some people on here but this is the truth. You've seen my posts all day. I'm more obsessed with horses then anyone and these ones need help in the way that they are striving to impress people but all the people care about is their f-u-cking money...

    Excuse my french!

  3. yep, I agree. Horse Racing is cruelty. These horses are used to win money and the ones who don't win are throw out like a piece of trash. Most of them end up in Slaughter Houses.Horse Racing needs to STOP

  4. Dude, them people are the owners and trainer of the winning horse, Big Brown.

They didn't find out that Eight Belles was euthanized until they fricken got in the Winner's Circle.

So STOP dissing horse racing when you know NOTHING about it!!! Seriously!

  5. Well, try to remember that Thoroughbreds are made to run, and they love it. They are competitive, swift horses and exercise is a MUST. They do enjoy running, and are prehaps some of the best treated horses. Without horse racing, this breed could be extinct. Its what keeps their breed alive. Just keep that in mind and also everything that happened to Eight Belles was a complete accident. They did love her, the trainer, the jockey, the fans, and had NO intentions to kill her.

I admit it did make me sick to my stomach to watch Eight Belles go down, and I was especially angry when the news teem gave us nothing on her. The owner's of Big Brown were jumping with joy, and the crowd was so focused on big brown, they didn't even notice there was a dead horse on the track.

Eight Belles did no deserve to die. She was far to young. She had a whole life and career ahead of her. It was such a tradegy that she had to die, but there is nothing we can do. The horse racing industry is too big, and makes too much money.

Perhaps they could start horses at an older age, when their bones are more developed, or change the track to make it more safe. There is a risk to horse racing, but I don't think it is neccesarily abuse.

  6. They were not celebrating after the horse died. Were you not paying attention to the video?

They put the horse down so that she doesn't suffer.

  7. They didn't realize the horse was injured when they were celebrating in that video.

I personally find it disgraceful that so many people have come to this board today to exploit poor Eight Belles with repetitive posts about the evils of horse racing.

  8. Everyone here in Ky. and I'm sure everyone who witnessed this was devastated. I  really wish you could see a working horse farm, these horses are treated like royalty. No one I saw at the Derby was celebrating there were tears everywhere you looked.

  9. i dont think they are celebrating the death of the horse.

if they were that is truly a disgrace.

  10. People stopped wearing fur coats in public and PETA needed another "scapegoat" issue for which to anger honest, intelligent Americans.....

PETA is another group that consists of liberal leftist extremists..... They splash "red paint" symbolizing blood on people that wear leather or fur clothing..... They hold "die-ins" and practice civil disobedience when protesting stuff like "dead cockroaches", "circus animal behavior" or "bird habitats" are threatened.....

I feel sorry for the horse, but considering they cannot be easily "repaired" or fitted with prostetics like humans when broken limbs occur, freak accidents such as this and the one that occurred to Barbero are unfortunate, but PETA always has to point fingers and blame others when accidents do happen and the trainers/jockeys don't hurt their animals on purpose.

The world would be a better place if PETA and Greenpeace just concentrates on preserving the wildlife of the world and not wasting their time on issues that don't have to do with animal abuse.

  11. They are not celebrating the tragic death of the horse.

  12. I 100% AGREE WITH YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HORSE RACING IS ABUSE... THOSE HORSES ARE FORCED TO DO THAT JUST FOR THE MONEY........ GREEDY AHOLES. THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THE MONEY NOT THE FACT THAT EIGHT BELLES DIED.......... SO HORRIBLE........ WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING TO STOP THIS.........
