Every time we buy an iron, after 2 years or less, when it has been used for more than half an hour, it trips the electricity. We have gone through about 5 irons like this.
Each time, it costs far more than buying a new iron to have it repaired, so we throw out the old one, and get a slightly better one. Not very good for the environment.
We now have a Kenwood, and the same thing has happened. It looks like there is dust in the soleplate, but I can't get the soleplate off to clean it.
I managed to get the back cover off, by getting a special screwdriver from the hardware. Now there is something holding the front of the iron which I can't get off, to clean inside, and try to see what the problem is.
Please can you shed some light on this, (explain the trick) or do all these irons only last for a short time, to fill up dumpsites?
Do you think dust could be causing the shorting, or what could the problem be?
Many thanks,
Margaret
