Kenwood vs Pioneer vs Sony

Question

I am shopping for a CD receiver, I have narrowed it down to three similar units. Which one of these brands is the better choice? Kenwwood, Pioneer, or Sony. They are almost identical in features and specs.

kenwood and pioneer are very renowned for their audio qualities. personally, kenwood over pioneer.

You have the Sony in the correct position.  I would recommend that to any car audio enthusiast last.

Without knowing the specific model numbers, I would recommend Pioneer over Kenwood.  Both are solid makes and I also back Alpine H/U recommendations too.  Sometimes the final decision goes to which unit would look best with your dashboard layout.

Spend a few extra dollars and move up to the Premier version of the Pioneer unit you are looking at.  I have had great performance out of my Premiers, as well as many other competitors.  Eclipse is my first choice all the time, but you did not give that as an option.

Pioneer and Kenwood are pretty much equal as far as quality goes. Sony isn't terrible. I have a basic sony H/U right now operating two Memphis 12" and a 800w amp and it does alright. I am thinking about upgrading though and would probably go with Pioneer. Alpine, like mentioned before is really good (better than Pioneer) but out of the three you've narrowed it down to, I would recommended going with Pioneer. But you could also make your decision about which one to get depending on how good each one looks.

I vote for a Alpine head unit, Alpine over Pioneer and kenwood, Sony that is just garbage. A friend of mine had a sony head unit and had 2 12W3v3's 4OHM wire down to a 1 OHM load, the amp is CEA-2006 compliant, and stable at 1 OHM. The subs sound like a dying cow until I put them in my car, then they came alive. I told him to get a different head unit but he sold the subs instead. Go with Alpine, they have Pioneer and Kenwood's number.

Pioneer or Kenwood. I prefer Pioneer bc they make their products last for a long time.
