My husband is 21 years old and was told a year ago while in basic training for the Airforce that he had Keratoconus? And he was supposed to get kicked out for it, but got it waved. His vision isn't that bad, just wears corrective lenses to shoot better and drive better. What exactly does thismean and when in his life is it really gonna affect his eyesight? Any info would be great

  1. I was diagnosed with it when was 16, I've been wearing glasses ever since, Keratoconus means that your husband's cornea(s) is/are a conical shape instead of the usual shape. I had a corneal transplant put into one eye almost 20 years ago. These days they probably correct it with laser treatment.Without my glasses, my eyesight is blurry. Check with an optometrist about treatment and your other questions too. I hope this info is helpful in some way. By the way where I live, you can't be a blood donor if you've had a corneal transplant !  Best wishes.
