http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Davies-c20716, the Bolton Wanderers skipper, has revealed that he is uncertain of whether or not he had a future at the Reebok Stadium after falling out of favour with manager Owen Coyle.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international has lost his place in the starting XI at Bolton Wanderers as they struggle in the relegation battle. Owen Coyle’s side find themselves in the bottom half of the Premier League table and will have to work really hard if they are
to avoid relegation at the end of the season.
While the manager had nice things to say about Davies, claiming he was still the captain of the team despite losing his place in the team, the player himself was not too certain about his future at the club. He hinted he could be heading out at the end of
the season.
Davies said in an interview:
“I have no idea what my future will be. Obviously I am disappointed not to be playing. But my performances haven't been good enough to stay in the team.
I keep training as hard as I can and when these opportunities come along, try and do my best.”
With Davies’ contract set to be expired at the end of the season and no contract talks as yet, there is a possibility that he could be heading towards a Bolton Wanderers exit come the summer. The English striker admitted that was a possibility with the way
things were going.
He revealed:
“There has been nothing offered here as yet. I understand the position we are in and there are a few players out of contract.”
Meanwhile, manager Owen Coyle revealed he believed the players had to do more to prove they deserved a place in the starting line up. He urged the squad to improve their form and fight for a place in the first team, which would be better for everyone.
Coyle said:
“If a player is out of contract, they do one of two things. They either play out of their skins to show their quality to earn a contract. Or, if they are playing well and to a high standard, they will have other admirers as well.”
