I am looking for a kid friendly hotel in Rome. We will be going in October two families each with 1 toddler, any recommendations?

  1. Rent an aprtment when you are with a family.

    Visit this page:

Use their "cobranded page with Venere" link and you can book a really nice apartment, or two apartments.

    Hope it helps!

  2. Italians are very child friendly-you will see children out in restaurants and people are more culturally in tuned to children.  That said, hotels in Rome are much smaller than other places due to the high influx of tourists and they will try to get as many rooms as possible into one space.  Also, kid friendly should not only be the amenities that the hotel offers, but also location to the center of town, as with two small children, that becomes a consideration. Often times Internet hotel searches such as hotels.com include provisions from children and the arrangements can made with booking on-line.  The bigger the hotel, the more likely it will have someone who speaks English, and the closer it is to downtown, the pricier it will get, but the more convenient  it will be.  It's something to consider.

  3. OK, this is a difficult question.  There are plenty of hotels in Rome and I have been there many times.  But the hotels in Rome (in all of Italy, actually) do not cater to kids as many do in the U.S.  If you choose a U.S. branded hotel (Starwood - Sheraton, Westin, St. Regis), then you would have a better chance.  Some of the smaller "boutique" hotels would not cater directly towards kids, but more towards couples and honeymooners.

I would suggest, however, that you choose a hotel centrally located since you have toddlers with you and you may want to go back to the hotel often for naps, changes, etc.  The Sheraton is not in the city's center, so that may not be the best option.  There is a Westin that is beautiful and in a great location (Via Veneto).

I will look for additional hotels and will post them here if I find them.

Good luck - have a great trip - and enjoy Rome!
