Are you more cautious with the music you listen to now that you have kids...I mean do you only listen to kiddie music now? I still listen to my music and my kids like it as well...when I was younger I could only listen to the oldies or the spanish radio or my dad would force us to watch Lawrence Welks and listen to blue grass.......man did I want to shove knives in my ears! I listen to hip hop, r&b, spanish rock, bachata, regeaton, salsa, tropical, freestyle, slow jams and so forth.......and I let my kids listen to it......one day a song I love "Te Amo" by Makano was on and my 2yr old daughter was on the top of the stairs dancing and shaking that little booty and yelling......"Ma!!! My Song!!! lol I was cracking up! I don't listen to cussing or gangster c**p...thats just not my thinng.......we listen to kids stuff too...we have Raffee in the truck and sing to those when we go run errands! Have you ever seen a goose kissing a moose.......down by the bay!!! where the watermelons grow..

  1. I listen to all Christian music, so it's completely appropriate for kids! I don't have any kids yet, but I drive the kids I babysit and they are Christian so their parents are fine with it.  I'm not too into all the other songs people my age (19) are into to much about drugs and s*x and killing people---not cool.  I also have some fun kids songs too though.

  2. We never listened to music with bad language to begin with, and still don't. Apart from that, the only thing I won't have in my house is kiddie music!! It drives me nuts. My relatives tell me I'm a mean and nasty mother, but I see no sense in irritating myself with kids music when they are just as happy with whatever I've got on. What they don't know about, they won't miss and I want to keep it that way as long as possible!! I don't think anyone is going to end up in therapy because their mother wouldn't buy them a Wiggles dvd.

  3. Yes, when the children are awake or w/in ear shot I listen to kid friendly music and when they are not I listen to more mature music.

  4. The kids listen to our music. My daughter is a HUGE fan of the White Stripes and THe Raconteurs on and also the Black Crowes...My son loves Van Halen.

But we do have the Alvin and the Chipmunks soundtrack in the car and we still (even in july)  have our christmas music. I want my children to be musically diverse. I really don't turn them away from much. But, like yourself, don't listen to gangster rap and cursing.

  5. Honestly I don't know why kids shouldn't be subjected to bad words, they're gonna learn it someday, so why not now. I knew a few curse words around when I was 8.

  6. We do a variety of both kids music, and kid-friendly adult music - even bluegrass.  Although I cant stand the music where kids are actually singing.  Theres actually some great kiddie bands out there now like the Sippy Cups, and Imagination Movers, Racer Steve and Princess Kate, and the Barenaked Ladies, and Lisa Loeb each have kids CDs out.  The Jack Johnson Curious George CD is great too.

Also I never noticed the lyrics in Greased Lightening - until I put it on my kids CD mix.  At least Cheeseburger in Paradise is pretty clean.

  7. I'm one that love the radio and all differant types of music ... we have 3 teens in are house so we listen to there music  and not one of them like the same music lol i thought i was stuck but younger kids are

  8. I let my son listen to regular music, within reason. I don't listen to too bad of music. Bands like the postal service, modest mouse and cat power. I just don't believe children should be subjected to overly explicite lyrics.
