Kitten with a cold. Help!?

My kitten (4 mo.) has had a "cold" for 3 weeks. I am so frustrated with all the medicine I have to give her. And it's not any better. It's day 2 of Zeniquin, and she's so stuffy. I feel so bad for her. How long do their colds last?? And can I help her in any other ways? She hated being put in the bathroom with steam!

Kitties don't typically get colds.  They get Upper Respiratory Infections and they can be both Bacterial and Viral.  Are you getting the meds from your Vet?  3 Weeks is a really long time for a cat to be sick.  If you haven't contacted your vet yet I would do so ASAP.

How to Help Your Cat Get Over a Cold

Step 1:

When a cat has a cold he probably doesn't have much of an appetite. When his nose is stuffy he can't smell his food. It is important for your feline friend to eat in order to keep up his strength. Offer your cat canned food rather than dry since it has a stronger odor. You can also try feeding him a little bit of tuna.

Step 2:

If your cat's runny nose is leaving a crusty buildup around his nose that impedes his sense of smell, clean it several times a day or as often as needed. You can clean the area with warm water and a clean soft cloth or cotton balls.

Step 3:

Make sure your cat has a constant supply of fresh water. He needs to drink water to prevent dehydration.

Step 4:

If your cat's eyes are runny, wipe the discharge away as often as needed with warm water and a clean, soft cloth or cotton balls to prevent it from developing a crust around the eye and nose area.

Step 5:

If you have more than one cat, keep them in separate areas of the home until the sick cat is well again.

Step 6:

Use a humidifier in the room with your stuffed-up pet. Adding moisture to the air can help relieve congestion, making it easier for your cat to breathe.

Step 7:

If the condition does not improve or gets worse within 7 to 10 days, take your pet to the veterinarian. A cold could develop into a more serious condition such as pneumonia that requires medical treatment.
