  1. klonopin is clonazepam which is a long acting benzodiazepine derivative used in managemnt of seizure control. 5 htp is also known as serotonin, which is used in the treatment of affective disorders such as depression. concommitant use of both these agents will not be problematic in any case as these agents act by differing mechanisms and there are no severe or significant interactions between these two agents.

    hope it helped:)

  2. please clarify what 5-htp is. That's not an abbreviation that i'm familiar with for common prescription medications.

  3. Can't believe the soon to be pharmacist doesn't know about 5-HTP.  Oh well... So, the answer to the question is that it is most likely safe to take both, but it really depends on individual human variation. On theoretical grounds there would be no reason to expect an interaction of the two.  One (Klonopin) acts at the GABA receptor, while the other (5-HTP) is a precursor to serotonin. By the way, 5-HTP is NOT serotonin.  5-HT IS serotonin.  Also, just for your own benefit, 5-HTP usually does not result in large changes in brain content of serotonin, but works for some in alleviating depressive symptoms.
