... besides Ramen noodles/pot noodle, hot dogs, grilled cheese, and cereal.

I've got $100 for 2 weeks of groceries. I had to get some car work done so I'm broke. I've got a garden so I'm OK on veggies.

I'm thinking of becoming anorexic. Think it's a viable option?

  1. SALMON PATTIES- TUNA/TUNA HELPER- EGGS

  2. you could go vegan for the next two weeks and munch out on veggies and fruit.  It would at least be a new experience and save you lots of money since you grow veggies anyway.  Other than that you could go to a bulk food store and buy a ton of chicken b*****s for like less than 20 dollars and season / cook them differently.  And have them with different veggies and perhaps some potato...

  3. Look for the biggest bargains. Buy and stock up when the food is on sale. Do number crunching because some things on sale really are not. We get pot pies for .50 cents a piece. If worse comes to worse find a food pantry, if you have to get to work you might need that last $100 to live on. They never have stable work where I live so we've learned to save up for the bad times. There seems to be more bad times than usual around here so I don't know what to do sometimes.

Ration your food. use your leftover for a next meal put it in the freezer it will last longer. Stick to your basics and don't buy junk food it will just make you hungrier. We stock up on meat and adding even just a bit of protein to your diet will make you less hungry even if it's just a teaspoon worth. We've been without an income for several weeks now and we still have enough food to last us for a while. So just keep your chin up and work with what you can and never be afraid to ask for help if you need it. Times will come the only way to survive will be to relay on each-other.

  4. I'm a big fan of black beans. I'll saute an onion and throw in 1 can each of black beans, diced tomatoes, corn. Then salt, pepper and add as many other spices as you like. We'll either eat this as is, as a side dish or with rice as a meal. If you have plenty of veggies, make veggie soup.

As to your other question, I've never heard of anorexia being a good choice.

  5. Buy some dried pasta, various types, tins of crushed tomato, a couple of tins of tuna plus your veggies and you could manage easily for a couple of weeks. Without sacrificing nutrition.

Visit Trader Joes, if you have one. Best advice is to plan a meal menu for the 2 weeks and just shop for that. You can go online and check out each item's price, then you can adjust accordingly.

It should be easy, especially if you are just cooking for yourself.

For example. A fresh pizza dough is $1.29. It will make 2 large pizzas. A jar of pizza sauce is $1.69 and will do 4 pizzas - you can freeze what  you don't use. Your veggies on top = free. Cheese around $4 a bag of grated cheddar...

So you can make 2 pizzas that would serve 2 people for around $5 or again, freeze the second pizza and you have another meal..

Packets/bags of pasta are around a dollar and will make at least 4 meals. Corn is 89c a tin. And so on and so on.

  6. Noodles and peas

Butter noodles, and a can of peas.

  7. Mac and cheese is always good! Also....i try and keep all diff types of pasta in the pantry...regular spahgetti...sea shell shaped...rigatoni. It heps you to not think your eating the same thing. Or actually we also really like to have a huge bag of boneless skinless chicken...and a few boxes of rice a roni. If you have a grocery store that does deals like 10 for $10 on those rice a roni's packs...you can have good chicken and rice meals too!

    :)

  8. Buy a whole turkey and cook it.

The leftovers will last at least a week and you'd be amazed at all the different recipes you can make from it!
