...those Military Drummers. You know the ones like in glory. And info about the flag holders too please. And it would be loads of help if you coulld leave me a link. thanx!

I know that they are for ceremonial purposes.  They flag holding ceremony probably has nothing to do with politics.

You'd do better with a re-posting to History or Military.  Be sure to put US Civil War in your title line -- that will make the military buffs bite!  

And, it looks as if flag bearers is a misnomer -- I think they were called "Color Bearers".  Good Luck!
