Kodak EasyShare complication?

Question

EasyShare my butt! I've been clicking the 'share' button on my Kodak, and every time, this box pops up:

"Cannot get the device information."

This doesn't make sense to me, because I've plugged the cable into the computer, and into the camera. The Kodak picture program is up and ready to go.

My mom had no problem uploading some pictures a couple weeks ago.

What's the deal?!

I`ve had lots of trouble with Kodak`s easyshare software. I truly don`t like it. I have to delete it all, then reinstall it again until I can get it to work. Ive gotten other programs including Microsoft's that comes with windows, it works much better and easier to use. Kodak needs to scrap their bad, irritating, difficult to use software. Maybe someone else has some pointers and a better experience with it.
