1. Well if your up for more resposibilities

    Rabbit or guinea pig

I would choose the guinea pig,, even though they are EXTREAMLY noisey

Less resposibilities hamster rat or gerbil

    i prefer hamsters

    cute cuddley simple

    Good luck :D

  2. Are you looking to get just one animal? Then I'd go with a Syrian hamster, as they are one of the few rodents that are actually recommended to be housed alone. They're relatively easy to care for, compared to rabbits, rats, or guinea pigs.

  3. blah

  4. RAT RAT RAT!!!

They are lovley creatures and are kind by nature...If your mom agrees to let u have a rat, here are a few thing ur rat will deff need!

    ~ a large cage

~ another rat 2 play with ( at least 2 rats cuz if u dont have 2 rats it will become depresed no matter how much u play with it)

    ~Toys

~bedding material (shreeded tisues are good and cheap too!)

Floor material (i wouldnt recomend wood shavings as the tiny dust in it will iratate ur rats eyes and nose, thus maiking it sneeze ad more prone to respiratory disese so i would recomend wood-based cat litter not made from pine tho!)

Here is a little info about the s*x of the rat

Male~ Male rats are laid-back and calmer than female rats, and will gladly sit in your lap. BUT, they mark places with a few drops of urine, this might put u off! ( by places, i mean places inside the cage! =p)

Females~ females are always active, and are hyper! they come into heat ( when they can breed) about every 14 days, so unless you want loads of babys, i would recomend the same s*x pairs!

Vets~ you will have to find a specilist vet 4 ur rats, as not many vets are specilised 2 take care 4 rats as they r 2 small!

Tumors + cancers~ unfortunatly, rats have a high chance of dying from cancers + tumors, this is because of how they were tested upon in the labs and its in all rats genes. If you do get rats, and ur rat(s) get a tumor or cancer, it would be the kinist thing to put it to sleep =[

Good luck with your rodent hunting!

    Hope this helps!

P.S if u have any questions just email me on yahoo!

    Love from,

    Rach x

  5. Robos are small and REALLY fast. You didn't say how old you were turning, but make sure you're old enough to deal with a small fast pet at this age. My 10 year old animal lover could probably manage (she wants to be a vet/zookeeper since she was 3 and has lots of animal expierence), but my 8 year old really wouldn't be ready for this size and fast pet yet. Wouldn't even try it with the 5 year old. I think a responsible 13+ kid who has had pets before would do fine. Wouldn't reccomend it as a first pet, but you've had at least 3 it sounds like.

For hamsters I really reccomend bin cages - especially for a Robo as the wire cages won't work and every single plastic cage on the market is too small.

Typical kid response is they won't like them because they aren't bright and colorful. However, please think about it. It is SO MUCH easier for a kid to interact with their pet with this type of cage because the lid comes completely off. (This also helps squeemish moms who may be leary of the small pet to think about petting them - seems less intimidating than reaching into a small door). They are also EASY to clean.

Making the bin cages "cool" enough for kids. There are TONS of really neat hamster accessories available. Super Pet makes a line that looks like furniture. All my kids friends think the little TV is the coolest thing - you can see the hamster in it. Kind of like a little kid playing TV with a box. Some folks even use old hamster safe toys to set theirs up with. Just use common sense if it would be safe for a hamster or not. The plastic used in many kids toys is the same plastic used to make hamster houses and toys. One of our bins is ridculously pink - pink houses, wheel, tubes, toys, bedding, etc. I think the only non-pink item in it is the water bottle. Not sure the hamsters care, but the pink cage thrilled my middle daughter (while equally horrifying the older one).
