Laptops duration limits?

i know this question is pretty obvious but here goes,

how long can u stay on a laptop (its plugged in)?

at what point will your laptop be damage if go on any further?

People have been arguing about this for ages, and there's no easy answer. It's a matter of thermal dissipation, and in truth, is only a matter for some machines. If you have something like a Celeron with integrated graphics, it should be fine in 24/7 server duty even if you just keep it free from dust. If you have a desktop chip Pentium 4 (you don't) or a gamer laptop with two hard disks and all the trimmings, it may get perilously hot within a few hours of full-load stress. If the above means nothing to you, go by how warm your laptop gets just sitting around doing nothing much (or at full load if you run Folding@Home).

Also, hibernating is sufficient. This will park the drives and throttle down the CPU, putting a temporary end to its heater status.
