  1. From what I have read you need to be old enough that your eyes have stopped changing. I don't know when that happens as mine are still changing :(  I guess it's the same cost whatever they do, it's the same procedure after all.

  2. They wont do it until you are 21 in most states... but some places might do it at 18 if your Rx has been stable for 1yr. (changed less than half a diopter in one year)

In my area (Texas) Lasik costs around 1800-2000$ for both eyes.

(I went to websites & submitted a 'request info' form & they called me almost immediatly. Price was the FIRST thing they told me.  It wasn't a big deal to call and get local rates)

touch up lasik after that is about 700... i haven't found a single place that will do a touch up for free.

BUT, be wary of this, and all other fairly new procedures. It hasn't been around long enough to know what the long term effects are.  Some of the first people who had lasik done are starting to have problems. (Halo's at night around lights, starbursts,  blurring, needing adjustments, and even a few who have nearly lost their sight in one eye)

If you are young you have time to do your research and find the right options for you.  Who knows, by time you can get your Rx 'fixed' there will be something totally new avaliable.
