A couple of days ago, a girl in my Chinese class got Lasik eye surgery. She's only 15! I thought you had to be 18. Is that illegal?

  1. Its not illegal, but it's also not the best decision. At 15, a persons eyes have not stopped changing. The typical requirement in most facilities for lasik is that your vision must be stabe, with no changes over 2 years. In her case, after the surgery, her vision may still worsen and she may need to either begin wearing glasses again or have another surgery down the road to correct the change.

  2. not really cos the recommended age is 21years old. the most she suffer next time.

  3. lolz..... illegal.......

Nope absolutely not as far as your parents are ready to sign a consent for you.

it is not advisable to get laser done till you are 18 because 18 yrs there is facial development and along with that there are some ocular changes and thus the power of your glasses changes.

  4. Most actually recommend that you are in your 20's, at least. The fact is, any earlier than that, and it's pretty much assured that your eyesight is going to change and you'll have to risk all the serious side effects of another surgery or go back to wearing glasses or contacts anyways. Yes, people do it, but it's pretty stupid- anywhere before 20 and 2 years with a 100% stable prescription is just flushing thousands of dollars down the toilet and risking your eye's health for nothing.

  5. i think its legal cause 1 of my friends had it done & she waz around that age but i wouldn't get it till after ur done growin cause ur eyesight can change
