Swansea City manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup, was all praise for his side, following their 3-1 win over West Bromwich Albion at the Liberty Stadium on Wednesday.
The high-flying Baggies were brought to the ground by a rejuvenated Swans side, who were particularly rampant in the first period.
Swansea’s leading goal scorer for the season, Michu, put the hosts ahead after tucking in a Pablo Hernandez pass inside the six yards box.
Wayne Routledge then blasted in two goals inside the first period, both from close range, to put the fixture beyond all doubt. Even though http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Romelu-Lukaku-c31672 smashed one in just before the half-time whistle, his strike proved to be a mere consolation as the home
team resolutely defended the second half to chalk out all three points from the fixture.
The win raised the Swans to eighth place in the Premier League’s pecking order, after having collected 20 points from their 14 matches. They are now 6 points behind fourth-place West Brom and eight clear of safety.
Although Laudrup’s men have grinded out wins against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, the Dane rated their Wednesday’s performance as being their best of the campaign thus far.
He claimed that the football they played in the first half was a treat to watch, and went into raptures about the relative ease with which they dispatched their opponents.
“It was the best (performance) I have seen for several seasons. It is not often as a manager you can sit and enjoy your team playing,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“As always during a game there are moments when there are things you have to improve, but the first 45 minutes was outstanding, all 11 players played one-two touch football and everything was so good.”
“[We] showed everybody what we can do if we are at our best. It was great for me to see the players at their best.”
The win stretched the Welsh club’s recent unbeaten streak in all competitions to 6 matches now. They will next face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
