  1. I'm not sure about Swing Weights, but Lead Tape are small strips that you put on the top of the head of the racket to make the head heavier.  

    If your racket feels too light, this is an easy way to add some weight, though it only really adds a small amount of weight.

    If you feel your racket is way too light, you would probably be better off demoing and purchasing another racket.


  2. Lead Tape - adhesive tape made of lead material, used in racquet customization to add more weight to the racquet frame.

    Swing Weight - measurement use in determining the inertia of a racquet during a swing. the higher the swing weight, the less maneuverable the racquet (usually).

    some people like to customize their racquet. they put some lead tape on various location on the frame. for example, at 12 o'clock to directly increase swing-weight. some also put it at 10 and 2 o'clock to further add weight. others put it at 3 and 9 o'clock for torsional stability and finally they might put it at 6 o'clock to add weight and to make the racquet more head-light. all of this results in modified swing-weight and you will want to do some experiments to find the right setting for you.

  3. Swing wieghts are for people who have light racquets and need more weight on the raquet to obtain the right speed for them (mostly the older people use them because tennis elbow)

    Lead tape has the same effect although is less heavy but it does go on easier and 10x easier to replace too!

  4. First two are correct they exist solely to increase the weight of the racquet.

    The reasoning is not just to 'add weight' typically you place them at certain points on the frame (like numbers on a clock) to assist your swing.

    All racquets are weighted differently. Most are either head-light or head-heavy, meaning more weight in one or the other. Head-light racquets are easier to control while head-heavy racquets gain more power through flat strokes and volleys.

    So a player with a head-light racquet who wants a bit more power will add weights to say 10 and 2 o'clock on the racquet.
