I have about one month to learn how to run three miles. I don't run regularly but I do play sports...Right now I might could jog a half mile but I would be extremely out of breath! Any help would be greatly appreciated...I would like to run every day because that is what our team will be doing this school year! Any training schedule tips or ideas?

  1. so i'm guessing this is for your cross country team? haha i'm on cross country and its alot of fun! at first i couldn't run 1 lap around the track! which is only .25 miles.  Now i can run 10 miles no prob! But what you need to do is train everyday! Train in the morning at around 7:00 am so its not so hot, especially in the summer. Set different routes that you run on certain days. Like tuesday-the indiana run. just make up names. haha. Keep in mind these runs need to be long around 6-10 miles. I know it seems like alot but you can walk when you need to at first. The more miles you have the faster you'll go. It is hard work now, but when it comes to those 3 lousy miles it'll be a piece of cake i promise you. :]

  2. Walk for 1 min, run for 2 min - walk for 2 min, run for 4 min do this till you do 3 miles - then lessen the time you walk and lengthen the time you run - I did it in about 1 month - be sure to stretch really well when your done. I only ran 3 miles in 33 min, so I was kind of slow - but Im prob much older than you

  3. Keep a regular routine, maby go for a run every other day going slightly further each time.

  4. Monday- Run 1 mile very slowly.

Tuesday- Run 1.5 miles on a hilly course

Wednesday- Run 300 meters all out 5 times with a 3:45 minute rest.

Thursday-  Run 1 mile at easy pace.

Friday- Stair climb for 10 minutes. Run 1 mile at comfortable pace. Swim half a mile.

Saturday- Run 3 miles at easy pace. Ride bike 7-10 miles.

    Sunday- off

When your ready to move up double the distances. Take 1 day off to let your muscles recover. If you don't take a day off your body will get exhausted and burned out.
