What would you say is the best way to go about learning a new language? I studied French (to a basic level) at school and now I want to take it further. E.g. PenPal, Classes, etc

  1. More classes is always good.  So is anything that can further your knowledge...movies, music, chat groups.  There are tons of different places you can go online to find chat rooms in langauges, penpals or keypals, etc.  I have been messing around on livemocha.com....they have all sorts of methods.

    Bonne chance!

  2. Try Rosetta Stone it is supposed to be very good. They have over 31 languages to choose from.

  3. Immerse yourself as much as you can.  Watch French movies or TV, listen to French radio/CDs, find French-speaking friends or spend time in France.  Read books and use a dictionary to get through the words you don't know.  More classes would probably be the best way to go about it.  It's important to spend time every day or so learning French.

  4. Read french literature, listen to french music and watch french movies, etc. It'll expand your vocabulary and keep you entertained. Maybe even take a conversational French course at a local community college.
