  1. if you want to learn to surf then pay the man...and as I can't look through the screen and see how unco' you are or not I can't say you'll find it easy or not....

  2. just get a half day, learn all the things from him (ask lots of questions) and you should be good. some learn faster than others. some teachers are better than others. it all depends on wheat factors point to you.

by the way surfammo or what ever he say IS IT EASY? not it is easy read the fipping question.

  3. Lessons are usually the best way to start, unless you are an adolescent or young adult with lots of pals who surf who can teach you. Go to a real surf shop. The folks there can hook you up with lessons, and even rent you a board to learn on.

Full day is probably too intense (I don't even know if they have full day programs, other than surf camps).

Surfing is an ocean sport, to do it right, you have to be at home in the ocean, with its currents, rips, undertows and sometimes big waves. I don't just mean being good at swimming in a pool, the ocean can be very unforgiving. I have seen lots of really good pool swimmers have to get rescued.

That is what worries me when I read some of these questions. Lots of folks just don't know what they are getting into. The more times inexperienced people s***w up, and have to get rescued, the stricter anti surfing ordinances get past, and it makes it tough on the rest of us.

Take the time time to learn about the ocean. Go swimming, body surfing and body boarding. When you are really comfortable with it, it's time to start surfing. Have fun!

  4. No it's not easy. Different people need a different amount of lesson time. Do you skate or snowboard? These kinds of sports can have some impact on your learning time.

Go a full days lesson, can't hurt.

Be prepared to fall off a lot initially. Persistance and having fun is the key.

  5. If it's that easy, why take a lesson? Sounds like already have the hang of it.
