I was wondering what kind of workout i could do to help my legs with running. I already run but i don't really have a good leg conditioning program.

What muscles should i try to work on in my legs and what exercises can i do?

  1. The main strength you need for top speed or constant running is isometric strength so you don't collapse at the ankle knee at ground contact. It also increase speed endurance since runners slow down because of muscle fatigue. Try isometric leg press where you lift the weight with both legs but hold with one leg on ball of foot, knee slightly bent. Hold as much weight as you can for 10-20 seconds. Do 3-6 reps/holds a couple times a week.
