Legal babysitting age?

okay so i have always been told that the legal age for babysitting a child under 5 is 16, but is this true? x

i think the younger the child being babysat the older the babysitter needs to be. i'm not sure of an approximate age but the police won't come after you or anything. it all just depends on the parents.

I don't think they actually have a 'legal' age for that stuff.

Most of my 11-14 year old friends babysit,so there shouldn't be any problem.

But There is A Thing Where You Can Get A certificate For Babysitting .. But I Think Thats If You Are Reallii Serious About It! x

I pretty sure there's no LEGAL requirement.

It's mostly up to the parents to decide whether you are mature enough.

However, if you're "babysitting" professionally (like in a school or daycare) you have to be atleast 18 for any age group.

it depends for a friend or for the state.  the friend will decide on how responsible they perceive you to be

Some states vary but most states you have to be 12 years old to babysit legally and that includes children under 5.

it actually 12. i have known people with a license that were 14. so, i think it's twelve.

No i think its 12 cause i was babysitting a 10 month old baby when i was 13.
