Question:

Leopard gecko's eyes?

Sometimes his pupils are tiny slits, and sometimes they are huge, filling up almost his whole eye. It has nothing to do with the lighting in the room. Could his pupil size possibly show his mood, or something else?

  1. it is most likely light. When they are huge they are dilated, taking in more light like when it dark or he is in his hut. In bright conditions the pupil shrinks, limiting the amount of light passing through, that is when your seeing the slit. I`m not sure why you think it is not light or how you came to that conclusion.

  2. maybe its just adjusting his eyes. have you ever closed your eyes for a couple of seconds and then opened again? it might be the same effect. look into eye disorders on the net. i really couldn't find anything. contacting a reptile society, vet, or local pet/specialty store might help you out a little bit more.

  3. I know you say it has nothing to do with lighting...but more than likely it does even though you dont notice the difference in lighting...your leo does. It's perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.
