What is it about Liberals ? Is this an American thing ?

Yes, it's an American thing.  Our country has become exceedingly politically partisan, to such a degree that anything deemed 'liberal' is automatically hated by conservatives (exactly like Homer in your clip).

Somehow global warming got labelled as a liberal issue in the USA.  Probably mostly because it's an environmental issue, and partially because Al Gore brought it to the public's attention.

deniers have to try and make political arguments.  However, the majority of conservatives have realized that global warming is a scientific issue, and it's not doing the Republican Party any good to deny this.  That's why all of their presidential candiates for 2008 with any chance of winning have acknowledged that humans are causing the current warming and we need to do something about it.

A few conservatives are hanging onto their politically motivated denial, but their numbers are dwindling into irrelevance.

No.  This is nonsense.  Glenn Beck is a comedian, sort of a conservative John Stewart.

Many thoughtful conservatives agree wit the scientists that global warming is real, and mostly caused by us.

Just a few examples:

From a non-US perspective

Liberals are those who want free trade & minimum regulation

conservatives are those who take a cautious approach and try to limit change, protect the land and resources etc.

Somehow the US has turned it around so "concervatives" reject regulation and want to squander everything as quickly as possible, sod the possible concequences.

I just watched the Glenn Beck piece on youtube about how GW is a hoax. Makes me want to puke. One of his cherry picked scientists said the following- when the science is on your side you argue the science. When the science is not on your side, you attack the messenger.

Is Al Gore not "the messenger".

I have no idea why people hate liberals so much. The republicans and corporate conservatives have screwed this country up something awful and have been exceedingly efficient in convincing america that it was all the liberals fault.

Consider this. who wanted to break up the union? the conservatives

who fights to allow even MORE pollution and mercury in the water? the conservatives.

who vetoed a health care bill for children? the conservatives.

The liberal democrats have fought to preserve rights, enhance education and healthcare, and bring us more jobs through renewable fuels.

Would you defend someone who poisoned you or nursed you back to health??
