Im interested in doing a lifeguard course, so I can therfore get summer jobs etc, at leisure centres, and would also be another thing on my C.V. Does anyone know of any places where they do such courses, in the central area of Scotland?

  1. Did mine in my local pool mainly - thats the place to ask!

  2. most likely at a local school that has a pool. ask around public schools and youth places also. Usually summer camps can train you. just ask :-)

  3. Here are a couple of websites you may want to check out to find the info you are looking for.  Good luck to you.

  4. I did mine last year. It's quite fun but you have to work for it. But it is definitely worth it and does look good on your CV. I would think that your local leisure centre would have life guard courses. But because of the traning and a few extras, it does cost a bit!

    Good luck!

  5. which part of central scotland? Edinburgh? Glasgow?

    if edinburgh, see www.coachingedinburgh.co.uk

Unfortunately you may now be too late to get on a course as the majority of areas do them at Easter, mid summer and October, however you may be lucky and find one near you, if you get really stuck search for RLSS (or NPLQ - which is the lifeguarding qualification you need to lifeguard a UK pool)

Also - apply for seasonal jobs you see anyway, as many of them will put you through an NPLQ as part of the training before work - but will insist you can swim 50m in under 60seconds, retrieve an object from the deepest part of their pool, and a few other fitness/ability tests.
