Lifting my 2004 Nissan Frontier?

Could anyone enlighten me on the art of lifting trucks? I have a 2004 Nissan Frontier, and I think I would like a 3in lift. But I don't know whether to do a body lift or suspension lift. Which is better? And if I do lift it, what size tires correspond with a 3in lift? Would 31in tires work? What else would I need to do?

Anything you think will help me will be greatly appreciated!!!
