Light/Dark Soy Sauce?

Question

I bought a store brand soy sauce & it did not specify if it was light or dark. I assume that it is dark though.. Does anyone know? I need both for a recipe, so I just want to know which I should go back & buy. The color was close to the color of Worchesire sauce.

It is just regular soy, there is a special soy sauce thats dark soy that has a deeper flavor and a darker color.

there's a bunch of different varieties of soy as with anything

you usually have to go to asian market to find them though

When used in a recipe, I always use whatever I happen to have.    Sometimes I have light and sometimes I have dark.   Sounds like you have dark.

Taste it.

Dark soy is somewhat sweeter;

while regular or light soy is saltier.
