Lightbulb question? HELP?

Okay, when I was persuading my little brother to clean my room (I'm harsh) - Well, he turned the lamp on, and the lightbulb started smoking. He brung me up in the room and the lightbulb was smelling weird. So I took it out and put in in the trash. Why was my lightbulb smelling so weird, and why did it smoke when my brother turned it on?

maybe you should call in an electrition   it could be a short circut in the wires   to the light if so you could have a fire  spend the money   have it checked it should never smoke  margaret d

Was there a bit of plastic on it?

maybe something got on the hot bulb like some plastic? Or the bulb was burning the lampshade?  Did it smell like burnt plastic?

most likley the gas inside the bulb was running low and made a whole in the glass and then the power was too high and made it smoke.
