Lightning...?

I was recently in washington d.c. during a lightning storm. there were a few bolts here and there, but other than that, light was flashing through the sky nonstop. why is that, and is it as dangerous as the bolts are?

  1. The amount of lightning strikes is depends on how much moisture is in the atmosphere. The more moisture there is the more lightning you will see.


  2. Some lightning flashes are made up of as many as 25 or more lightning bolts (strokes). They move so fast that your eyes only see one flash!

    Avoid open spaces but do not take shelter under a tree. The best shelter is inside a building.

    Never walk in a thunderstorm carrying a metal pole, and that includes an umbrella!
