Lights in the tv remote?

why cant i see the lights flash in my tv remote and can only see them thru a digital camera?

Your TV remote sends signals to your TV using pulses of infrared light. Your eyes aren't sensitive to infrared light, but the sensors used in most cameras are.

The infrared light used is close to the color red, the wavelength if the light is just a little bit longer and your eyes just can't see it.
