Hello im on my other computer right now and my computer has a limited or no connectivity problem and as far as i know its not a Spyware problem or a simple turn off the modem problem its far more than that.

As far as i know its a ip address problem because when i go into start > cmd > ipconfig/all my ip address says 169.254.200.243 and it should be 192.168.1.1

Ive also reformatted my computer and still no luck there.

Its not on a wireless router there all connected by eithernet cords and to let you guys know this is the first time its ever happened to me and it happend out of the blue today when i was playing a game.

  1. You are right... It's an IP address problem.  That IP address is "randomly assigned" by windows when the system is set to DHCP (Obtain IP address Automatically) but it can not find a DHCP server.

Turn your router off, leave off for 15 seconds, then plug it back in.  It looks like the DHCP server on the router has "locked" or crashed.

It could also be a problem with your network cable or even the network card, but it's less likely than a problem with your router.

If the DHCP server has crashed in the router, your other machines (if you have any) will start "falling off" the network 24 hours after the last time they renewed their IP address, so it's probably not limited to just your 1 machine.

    As a "last resort":

Do you HAVE a wireless router?  If so, do you have WPA enabled?  If not, someone may have hacked into the router and turned off DHCP or messed with it in some other way.

In that case, holding the reset button on the route for 30 seconds will reset it back to factory-defaults  (Be sure to set up wireless (with security) once you are connected...)

  2. It is probably a failed network card.
