I have a Lincoln 1988 Town Car and I took it to Midas & the guy who changed the oil on it didn't know it had two drain plugs & he over filled it with oil. On the way home it started jerking and there was black smoke coming out. I called Midas & they had it towed back to the shop and that it what they told me was wrong. Do you think it has caused any more damage to the car??

  1. ==MIDAS DOES NOT EMPLOY NOR TRAIN THEIR PEOPLE LIKE A CAR DEALER DOES==MIDAS HAS A SHOP  'MANAGER ' WITH ABOUT AS MUCH EXPERIANCE AS A CAN OF SOUP==LET ALONE TRAIN SOMEONE==THE MANAGERS DONT EVEN KNOW WHICH WAY TO LOOSEN A DRAIN PLUG==LET ALONE TWO OF THEM==NOW HOW MANY FOMOCO PRODUCTS ARE THERE OUT THERE WITH THE DOUBLE SUMP===LET ME THINK NOW==SINCE 1978 WHEN THE 302 WENT INTO THE MUSTANG II==NOW IF THIS GUY DOESNT KNOW THAT THEN OBVIOUSLY THERE IS NO TRAINING OR SUPERVISION BY SOMEONE THAT KNOWS WHAT THEIR DOING==WHAT GOES ON IN THE " PIT " STAYS IN THE PIT "  THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS A DEALERSHIP IS VERY HESITANT ABOUT HIRING THESE PEOPLE WITH PREVIOUS JOBS IN QUICK OIL CHANGE AND PLACES LIKE MIDAS==CAN YOU IMAGINE HAVING A CAR FOLLOWING YOU THAT JUST HAD THEIR BRAKES DONE AT MIDAS==LET ALONE AN OIL CHANGE ??

  2. It most likely did not cause any more damage. Was it worth saving $2 at Midas for some under-paid/inexperienced guy to put on the cheapest oil filter (& the crappy oil of the wrong weight) than to go to the best? Most Lincoln dealers (even Ford dealers) have special prices on oil changes (call around) and use genuine factory oil filters (with built-in check valves) & use a quality oil of the proper weight. You got what you paid for.

  3. RICK C is talking stupid midas has the same experince level person changing oil as the dealers does.  The deal does not have a high paid skilled mechanic changing oil I have been taking my Lincolns to Midas and the deal for the last 15 to 20 years and I have had less problems with Midas then with the Lincoln Mercury dealer .  Now as far as your car i wonder which plug they changed one holds most of the oil like 3 quarts of it so if they changed that then they didn't over fill it by much but if all they did was changed the fron plug it only holds about 1 quart and that would mean they had a lot of oil in there and it could have blown some gaskets.
