Question:

Linksys router with DSL?

I'm trying to start a wireless network with my WRT54G linksys router from a DSL modem. I've used this router for a few years with a cable modem and never had a problem, but I wasn't sure it would work with DSL.

I've reset the router entirely and have been able to connect both directly and wirelessly to the router (i.e. I can log on and access the router's settings) but I haven't been able to connect to the internet either way. TCP/IP settings are set to automatically find an IP address.

Is there something in particular I need to do to connect wirelessly to a DSL connection?

  1. When you view the status page on your router, does it show any IP settings?  Maybe reboot your DSL modem and renew your DHCP on the Linksys router.  Plus make sure you logon to your Modem too, and check the setting there, maybe the Internet is not up on the modem?

  2. I got the same problem before. What I did is call the dsl provider and have them configured the dsl modem using with and without the wireless router. They keyed in some numbers and like magic - it's now working!

Call your dsl provider for assistance.

    Have a nice day!
