Question:

Lip piercing with an overbite?

I've just had my braces taken off and I'm thinking about getting a lip piercing. Problem is... I've got an overbite. Could I still get it done? Also, how much does it hurt? Do they numb it? Yes, I know everyone has different pain thresholds but I mean generally. I've got my nose, eyebrow, naval and ears pierced.

  1. i don't think the overbite should be an issue--try asking your dentist or piercer about it. they may be able to help you with that. 'generally' speaking, it's hard to say how much a lip piercing hurts--it's very different for everyone, considering not everybody has experienced the same kind of pain throughout their lives (i.e. not everyone who's gotten a piercing has ever been tattooed, broken their arm, twisted their ankle, had frostbite, burns, bee stings, etc.) for me, it ranked 8 (on a scale of 1-10). however, it didn't take very long at all, which definitely helps and the pain dies down gradually after wards. they don't numb it, but if you just close your eyes and take a deep breath, it won't be so bad--besides, you've been pierced a number of times. you should be fine. bring a friend if you wish, making sure the piercer agrees to it, of course.

  2. I don't see what an overbite would have to do with it. Most people have a slight overbite.

  3. doesnt really hurt..

    you can still get it

some places numb it if you ask..

  4. no they dont numb it, its just like any other piercing. If you want it, then go get it.
