Lip piercings......??????

Question

im getting my lip pierced next month

i just wanna know from anyone who has had it done how much it hurts?

and do u think i should get a lip ring or snake bites

That depends; do you want to be like everyone else and get snakebites, or do you want to be like the lesser population and get just one lip ring?

I'd suggest getting fake lip rings [the ones that you just pinch onto your lip] and seeing which one you think looks better, and which is easier to work with.

As for my experience. It didn't hurt at all. During the initial piercing all i felt was the cold metal of the clamp, and then a small prick -- and it was over. But afterwards, when/if you accidentally bump it or anything; it hurts pretty bad.

There might be days where for no reason you wake up with it hurting; but that's usually due to either bumping it while you slept; or not making sure it/your mouth were clean before you went to bed.

As long as you clean it regularly, and watch what you do around it; it won't be that painful, if at all.

EDIT:

DO NOT TAKE NICOLE'S ADVICE!!! It's very important that you don't take ANY pain killers; neither before the piercing or during the initial healing session [1-2 weeks after].

Pain killers thin your blood and make it harder for your piercing to heal. If you need to take them beforehand, make sure it's AT LEAST 24 hours before you get your lip done! Otherwise the piercing WILL bleed more than it should.

As for afterwards, if you take pain killers during the first 1-2 weeks, make sure it's sparingly [once every 4 days at most]. Pain killers DO thin the blood, so you will get excessive scar tissue once it heals. And you also will have to wait longer before you switch the jewelry.

get a lip ring, take it from me, it hurts,but its worth it ,but my peircer made mine wonky ,so get a single lip peircing , i recomend it , and also recomend getting ring >< lol lol

It doesnt hurt till after... your adrinaline will be rushing as soon as the clamp is applied and you wont been much... but after it may feel like you bit your lip or were punched in the mouth... just depends on what gauge piercing you get. Good luck

It all depends on your tolerance for pain. For me, it was nothing, but my friend thought it was terrible. I would suggest taking a pain reliever (like tylenol) a half an hour before going to get it done.

Also, I tend to find that one lip ring looks better on girls. Somehow snakebites tend to look really trashy on girls.

Lol it sounds like it may hurt a little. Lol your lucky. Also get a ring I dont like snake bites. Rings are better. :P

It only hurts if you think its going to hurt really. Yea, you'll have a sting and pinch, but it won't be too bad. If you get snake bites make sure they mark it even, otherwise it will look very bad. As long as its a professional place they should be used to it. I would recommend getting one side done first to see how you like it and how well it heals. If you like it, get the other one done.

Mine hurt a little, but not enough to even flinch. The most painful thing was the 3 day swelling i experienced... I think it's worth it though. I've only had it for 3 weeks and it healed and it feels like I've had it for a year. it's amazing!
