  1. chances are more will show up...for inside treatment baiting usually is the best approach though there is no fool proof bait to use. Some ants feed mainly on sugar while other feed off of proteins and at some point most types will change their diet depending on what the colony needs.  Terro is a good all around sugar based bait, but if they are not going for it try Combat ant gel which will be protein based.

Check along the foundation to see if you happen to come across foraging ants and you might be able to determine where to treat the nest at outside, stopping them from being an inside problem to begin with.

Forget the grits..ants do not eat solid foods, actually can't eat solid foods.  They feed the solid food to their larvae which in turn as they digest it it is turned into a sugary substance which they regurgitate to the adult ants.  By the time the queen is fed, the regurgitation has been passed to numerous ant in the colony insuring it is safe for her to eat.

  2. Terro ant bait is great!.. but if you want a non poisonous method of killing ants.

Get Instant Grits.  dump some where you see the ants,  or on ant mounds and it will kill them in a few short days. If you want to speed up the colony destruction toss a sponge of water near the grits.  The ants eat the grits, and water causes them to swell 3-4 times their normal size.  it explodes the ant from the inside.  And best of all. Ants love it and will take grits back to the queen, kill her, kill the colony
