Just curious, here's a list of questions, thanks for your help.

Do you...

1. recycle

2. use reusable shopping bags

3. use CFL bulbs

4. use only natural cleaners

5. eat organic foods and only purchase fruits and veggies in season

6. walk, bike, limit driving, or have an eco friendly vehicle

7. conserve water

These are just a few questions...there are plently of things we can do to help our environment, these are just the easy ones. Please answer honestly! Thanks so much.

  1. I take as long as I want when taking a shower. Limited water usage can give the town hacks a reason to raise your water bill, because they will not collect enough taxes if people conserve.

    I do return plastic bottles.

    I use the incandescent bulb for two reasons. 1. I don’t like the fact that accidental breakage of the new bulbs will cause me to cut up a new rug, or worse cause brain damage. 2. The old bulbs give off more light and don’t cost an arm and a leg.

    I use Mr. Clean because it works well.

    I consider all vegetables to be organic. The ones marked organic cost way more. Who needs that when all prices in the supermarket have skyrocketed because of corn.

    I some times ride my bike and go for walks, but not because I want to save gas. I do it because I want exercise.

    We have plenty of water, so no I don’t conserve it.


  2. Yes to all of these. For clarity, on number 5 we have a local farm that grows food throughout the year, although we're in a colder climate (CT.) For 7, my vehicle is a Ford Focus PZEV, and I only drive to work & back.

    2. always - we have a great set of calico/jute reuseable bags and we keep a couple rolled up in our work bags so that we can shop on the walk home from work

    7. we only have a shower, we even let veg water cool and use to water pot plants... keeps the geraniums flowering

  5. 1. Yep we have only half a bag of garbage a week and two huge recycle bins!

    5. Yep! We don't have hardly anything in our cupboards or freezer, all fresh fruit and veggies, always organic! :)

    6. We always walk to stores and even grocery store too. We drive slower too to save gas.

    7. Yep shorter showers and no water on while we brush our teeth!

    We don't even have high gas expenses or pay hydro etc. but do it for the environment and to feel better about yourself! Everyone should it is very simple!

  9. 1.)  Absolutely.

    2.)  No, but we have a dog that we must pick up after, so we reuse the grocery bags for that.

    3.)  In places where we can, some of our fixtures to not allow for CFLs or they make the room look terrible (like our red dining room).

    4.)  We are working on it.  As we run out, we buy green cleaners.  Usually I don't use anything at all except elbow grease unless it's bad.  The only thing I can't get rid of is bleach to get rid of mildew that builds up in the caulking in our shower.

    5.)  No it is too expensive, but we buy local produce in the summer.

    6.)  My husband bikes sometimes to work.  I drive a fuel efficient car (35 mpg)  to a train station and take the train to the city.

    7.)  We try to, but we don't go out of our way to take ridiculously short showers.  We have a water saving shower head.

  11. 1. recycle--YES! My recycling bin overflows and my garbage can is nearly empty.

    2. use reusable shopping bags--YES. I like them much better than plastic bags.

    3. use CFL bulbs--YES, I still use incandescent in some places, but I replace most of them with CFLs as they burn out.

    4. use only natural cleaners--Mostly.

    5. eat organic foods and only purchase fruits and veggies in season--I try.

    6. walk, bike, limit driving, or have an eco friendly vehicle--I drive a hybrid...

    7. conserve water--oh yes. I live in California. It's a way of life.

    I am sometimes with the natural cleaners as I don't like too many toxins around the children.

    We do purchase fruits in season and shop farmers markets

    We bike, roller blade, limit driving, but no we can't afford a eco friendly vehicle at the moment.

    Definitely yes we conserve water

    I also keep the auto temperature 2 degrees below the recommended temperature.

    walk and bike everywere dont own a car and the eco friendly cars are worse on the enviroment then gas the batteries would do more damage then any car out there a to make them is even worse not to mention they cost a fortune
