  1. everyones comments are right...Saudi is a very safe place to live but very boring..no theaters, no bars, restaurants with sections for men, then families...........but if you make the right connections you won't be too bored.

when you come down here, depending on where you live, join the american community services and check out the programs at the american embassy...i was part of their softball team, my dad was part of an american mens hockey team, and they always had great stuff to do. the ex patriot community is strong and always try to include new people. If you're coming with you're family it will be easier to get involved but if you're single i suggest you give it a try anyways.

  2. SaudiArabia is a safe place... We are actually under  USA protection (you know, oil etc)

You didnt mention whether you are married, single, male or female..

There are no bars, clubs, discos, theaters, or open recreation for singles here..  Saudi is geared all towards family entertainment... So slight boredom might be your issue.. otherwise.. all is good...

  3. Positive:

there are many shopping malls and markets

there are many good restaurants and cafes

(western - Arabian - and Saudi for sure )

there are people from different nationalities live in Riyadh

gas price is law in compare of other countries

    Negative:

streets are full of cars so you take to much time to go any where

    very hot weather

there is no place to spend your free time in expect ( Malls - restaurants - cafes)

if you would like to learn Arabic before you come to riyadh

  4. ....with regards to security you dont need to worry about, this country is very safe. There are active police cars roaming the cities and road highways aside from the police checkpoints you'll find before you reach every city.....

.....with regards to living condition, life is very simple here, there are few places to hang out on weekends and limited places to have fun but you can manage. Its just how you spent your idle time or free time depends on your interest. Just don't expect too much.....anyways, all foreigners are here for work and work and work alone.....
