  1. You can get by on the cheap for $20 a day, $30 would be better. Buy food at grocery stores, kiosks, etc to avoid high costs. Some restaurants are cheap, especially The Augustiner Brauestuben west of the main train station. Buy a week long transit pass to save money (EUR 13) A day pass can cost EUR 7.

  2. I would have to agree with Todd. YOu should be comfortable on $30/day. Eat at "Scnell Imbiss's" and kiosks. Wienerwald also is a pretty good bargain. We live here (Connecticut) and also Germany. Headed back next week (2-14-06) but we live about 4 hours NW of Munich. We lived in Munich from 85-88 and what a great city! Also look for places to eat that offer "Stammessen" which are daily specials. Have fun! Jerry

  3. try hospitalityclub.org to find somebody to host you...

depending on how long you stay you can use a STREIFENKARTE as a ticket for munich's various transportation systems. it's good for ten short rides with buses , metro or the commuter train which connects the city center  with the Franz-Josef-Strauss-Airport...

If you're into clubbing munich is a nice place, only your stay will turn a little more expensive.

I'd plan around $30 per day
